Quote of the Day

As a fan of Tom Wolfe's novels, I was struck by this key quote from an interview he did with The American Spectator four years ago...

"Look at Darwin. My God, what a powerful theory. Incidentally, I give that one about 40 more years, and it will go down in flames."
Needless to say, that's quite an intriguing statement from a man who wrote the famous essay, Sorry But Your Soul Just Died. I wonder what happened between Wolfe's publication of the Soul essay in 1996, and his interview with the Spectator in 2005. Did Wolfe did learn something or have an experience that made him temper his high regard for reductionism? Sadly, we're given no details. But it's a fascinating turn of events, nonetheless.
